Meta,
But they confussed it with the end of the age.

Jesus himself never said "this is the end of the age." There's a gloss on a verse in Matt 13 I think. But even there he doesn't say when. When they asked him the day and the hour he said he didn't know. So he never claimed that the end of the age was at hand. He claimed the Kingdom of God was at hand, and through the power of the Spirit, it was, and is still.
"they confused"
So you agree that they have a problem of credibility.

"Jeus never said"
I guess here you have a lot of latitude. Do we really know what Jesus said and did not say. In Mt24 Jesus clearly says that the end of the world would occur right after the fall of Jerusalem.

"when they asked him the day and hour"
You are stretching it here. Mt24 says that Jesus said it would occur within the generation but the exact day and hour he did not know. A very different thing than what you want it to say.

"So he never claimed that the end of the age was at hand. He claimed the Kingdom of God was at hand"
There are many statements in the NT tie the Kingdom of God to the second coming and the end of the age.
Mt24 is an example also Mark 9:1
...And he said to them, "I tell you the truth, some who are standing here will not taste death before they see the kingdom of God come with power."

What are we to understand by "come with power" ?

Mt16:27-28
"For the Son of Man is going to come in the glory of His Father with His angels, and WILL THEN REPAY EVERY MAN ACCORDING TO HIS DEEDS.
"Truly I say to you, there are some of those who are standing here who will not taste death until they see the Son of Man coming in His kingdom."

That is what he means by "power" or sometimes the words "in his glory" are used.

Going through all the examples is not useful I am sure that you are aware of them all. They say that "Love is blind" and we can certainly add that "faith is blind".
