I see no qualifier in here that says you were speaking of only certain theists. Your post is perceived to be stereotypical and does not say anything about everything a theist says.

Goliath says:"You have no need to apologize to theists because they spew out offensive drivel. Don't apologize to them for your atheism. Be proud to be an atheist!"

See what I mean?

"The feeling is definitely not mutual."

Why not? Are you an evil atheist?

Hi sakrilege,

I don't recall you being unfriendly to me - but thanks anyway

Yeah I think sakrilege has been cordial from what I've seen.

But I think Goliath needs a hug.

My my. Well it was nice while it lasted. Thanks for the advice on how we can get along better though, just before the show of patronizing magnanimity.

Maybe. I don't think I'd dare without his permission

I like Goliath ; I also know there are topics we strongly disagree about

Has he explained the difference to you between believing God doesn't exist and having no belief in God yet?

Hmmm...perhaps I should've said "You have no need to apologize to theists just because they spew out offensive drivel." Is that better? I was merely saying that sakrilege need not apologize to those theists who spew out offensive drivel.

I don't consider myself evil, although I'm sure that you and a majority of the xians on this planet do.

Love, however, is an important and special thing to me. I don't give it out freely to any old schmuck on an internet bulletin board.

Not from you, I don't!

You're allowed to have pizza at ALL during Lent? One of my Jewish pals was desperately waiting for the end of Lent so she could order a pizza...?

Actually, I think it's because people on both sides of the issue automatically think that the other person is insulting them in some way, simply by believing (or not) in a deity.
