I just talked to Niles Eldridge last night about his work being twisted by creationists. He told me that's why he wrote the above book.

I'll third "Darwin's Dangerous Idea". A very good book and humorous at times.

If you're are also interested in evolutionary psychology:

How the mind works by Stephen Pinker

are both very illuminating

It was a spelling error. I promise.

Theodosius Dobzhansky's 'Genetics and the Origin of Species' is still my all-time favorite work on evolution, despite its age.

Cheers,

These books are choke full of accurate information, fascinating anecdotes and open-mindeness- that's the gospel truth!</strong>
You must be joking.

Tron: I liked Eldredge's book, very readable. Unfortunately, I didn't think it was a very good anti-creationist screed (his intention). It did give a good description of PE, however.

Have you had a chance to read Gould's newest, "Structure of Evolution"? I almost bought it a couple of weeks ago but it would have put me over my baggage weight allowance . I'd like to hear from someone who's read it before I shell out the $$$.

I'll have to read it again, but I thought it was a reasonable anti-creationist book. I haven't read that Gould book, but then I'm not really a fan of most of his stuff.
