Off crack and back to the thread. These strange buildings, cathedrals, can serve as a warning to new generations. The nature of the warning is to show what can happen to a society which channels all its resources into a delusion.

Sure, Medieval Europe produced all these masterpieces of architecture and art, but life was horrible then. The intellectually gifted and the artistic groups were sucked up into the service of the lords of delusion. The twentieth century analogies are the Nazi and Stalinist Regimes, which likewise channeled art and architecture to only glorify their visions.

Cathedrals are the skeletal remains of mass illusion and huge warnings of what can happen when a group of crafty theives control the workings of society.
