. . . and it has had a better success rate than prayer. . . .

Wonder why?

This would be the same god who said, "I come not to bring peace but a sword"?

Can't blame that god for wanting to be more like me, though.

So i guess you could say I have a better outlook on life,

So I guess you could recommend to that sword-bringing god that he adopt your better outlook on life pronto.

Yeah, humanity is evil and bad and all should be punished for being imperfect!

Get a grip!!! If your stupid god created the world perfect, what higher and bigger "power" is there that could corrupt this so called creation of perfection??

In your story god fucked up! He created evil and now humanity must suffer because of it - that is the ultimate sign of egocentric selfishness, and are your not also supposed to strife towards becoming like your god??

Well, then your stupid god is succeeding, as you said humanity is selfish and egocentric!

Got that right. Too bad you're not going to the "Oven of Infinite Justice."

The difference is, to the atheist, the world will never get much better. Science and techonology will NEVER make greed, selfishness, anger, hate, violence etc. go away.
But religion will?

In fact it will make it worse. More expensive toys to buy, more money, more destructive weapons being created. Peace can't exist in the atheistic world.
Atheists did not slaughter people to convert the survivors.

Through genocide. But THIS time it'll work.

Let's not retread that. It's a painful experience for some of the participants involved (I'm not one of them), and I'm not sure if the hurt is gone.

Maybe at this point I'm only satisfying my morbid curiosity--but--PM? She was a fixture here, and I'd like to find out exactly why that was disturbed.

Billions and billions of dollars go to the cancer foundation, yet i recently heard that they aren't any closer to finding a cure.
So? Maybe no cure yet, Magus, but survival rates are considerably better than they used to be. In any case, let us not forget that one of the reasons so many people get cancer now is because they are living longer. If we all live long enough, there's a good chance we'll all get cancer. Would you suggest we abandon medical science altogether then and return to a pre-scientific age of huge infant mortality rates and an average life expectancy of thirty-odd years? That would certainly save billions of dollars.

Or, if we're really serious about getting rid of this horrible disease and saving ourselves a few pennies into the bargain, maybe we could try praying. That's it! Let's pray to 'God' to help us find a cure!!! After all, he's far more real than science. Yeah, that should do the trick!
