In my old church youth group, we used to say that there were sheeps and there were goats. Sheeps being cut, and goats be uncut. I'm a sheep myself, and, to my knowledge, so were all my close friends, except one; he was the only goat.

My wife and I have talked about what we'll do if we ever have any kids, and we're still up in the air. Every woman that I've ever talked to prefer the cut for purely aesthetic/cultural reasons. I read an interview/poll in maxim awhile back and the majority of the women they talked to said the same thing. Since it's such a cultural norm here, we'll probably have out son cut so that he doesn't have any problems with the ladies later in his life.

BTW, I've never seen an uncut penis. After the episode of Nip/Tuck where the teenage lad tried to do the deed himself, I tried searching the net for pictures at medical sites, but the only results I got were of the "How to get a huge uncircumsized penis" variety.

The PM I sent you should solve that little problem for you, though you should keep in mind that their claim "contrary to popular belief and the anti-circ propaganda, most males who have decided to be circumcised regret not having made the decision earlier" is probably explained by there usually being a medical reason for adult circumcision.

Oh, and aesthetic reasons? Who really cares what it looks like flacid? They do not look especially different when erect, except for the fact that you can glide the foreskin up and down.

Circumcision isn't as prevalent in the US as I had supposed:

http://www.cirp.org/library/statistics/USA/

These stats show it to be the most common in the Midwest at 81.4% and relatively uncommon in the West at 36.7%; the overall rate is just over 60% (1999 figures).

Xe-xian I'd suggest you do some research of circ if/when you ever need to amke that decision. Watch an actual Circ get done before you decide.

Truthfully I do see how a person can justify Genitally mulating a baby "just to look Like others" I mean if your child has a different hair colour would you dye His hair to mathc yours? How about contacts if He had different eye colours?

Going to put my kids to bed, I'll come back with more links about circ...

This is awful! How is this different than the justificaton for female circumcision in places such as Sudan?

There is nothing wrong with an uncut penis, nothing whatsoever. I've only ever seen one man who had been cut, I found it strange looking, it didn't look right if you know what I mean without being nasty about it. The foreskin is meant to be there, it just looks so weird when it isn't. Guys here don't go for it unless it's absolutely necessary.

If the current trend for ladies preferences was for men to have only one testicle instead of two would you consider that for your son so he wouldn't have any problems with them in later years??

Please please allow your son to grow up with all the bits and pieces he was born with. Let him decide for himself, it's his body and he should have a major say in what is to be done with it.

Shake, what "extra care and attention" are you talking about? The foreskin is connected to the glans in infants or young males, so there should not be any extra care or attention such as attempting to clean underneath it.
This reminds me of when my first son was a newborn. I remember my father trying to tell me in a roundabout way that I would have to clean under his foreskin. I was horrified because thankfully I'd read everything going and knew it was the worst thing you can do as it's more liable to leave it open to infections and can damage it permanently.

I informed him of all the medical advice why you shouldn't which I'm sure had changed since he was a baby back in 1939. I also informed him that if he was babysitting him he was NOT to take it upon himself to do this. I'm glad he brought it up as I'm quite sure he might have done this thinking he was doing the right thing.

My father got circumsized at about the age of 50. He did it because of cleanliness issues, infections and difficulty urinating. He said is was far from painless.

Would American women be willing to have their clitoral hoods and labia minora removed if that became a cultural standard? Would they do it so they could "be cleaner"? Would they do it to "get rid of that EXTRA skin"? I don't think so. If they think circumcision is such a wonderful thing, then we should force it on them and see how they like it.
