I do believe that a child develops best in a stable environment with one parent of each sex. Every child deserves the chance at having both a father and a mother and a stable family. Where an explicit choice is might that chance is denied. Choosing to conceive a child in a situation where the mother knows before hand that they won't have a father does seem immoral to me.

Obviously life doesn't always work out that way and mistakes happen, but the intent is different and the intent behind an action is always important to me.

If a woman (or a gay couple) chooses to adopt a child, or circumstances dictate that a single parent must raise a child, then that's an entirely different situation. I have nothing but respect and admiration for these people. Especially if they raise happy and healthy kids.
