Ipetrich: Just to add to the Geology issue...

There is one very easy question to ask about the global flood and sedimentary rock. Why do shales that are interbedded with sandstones, (goto Akron for a great example of this exposed situation), have no coarse aggregate? Not a single piece of shale has any coarse aggregate in it. Yet once in the transition to sandstone, that coarse aggregate is found. How is this possible in a catastrophic incident? No other question is needed to debunk the YEC flood claim.

Sure.

I'm sure that those who told the Gilgamesh and Biblical flood stories had not imagined their heroes having to load many individual animals on board -- mostly the members of the various wild and domestic species that they were familar with.

And one interesting question is why nobody has tried to re-enact the Noah's Ark story in any way -- four men and four women caring for a big zoo in a giant unpowered wooden boat in a year, trying to stay with Old-Testament-level technology as much as possible.

I think it's OK to cheat on the construction of that ark, since Noah-style construction would be extremely time-consuming. And I think it's OK to cheat on the placement of that ark, since we want to simulate the conditions of Noah's Flood in some way. A good way would be to hire an ocean-going tugboat to tow the ark out to sea out of sight from nearby coastlines and reefs and such. And it will certainly need running lights, a radio, and perhaps also a radar set, or it will properly be judged a navigation hazard.

There have been many efforts to re-enact notable past events and lifestyles; why not this one?

Hold up here guys, we're missing the obvious. God made the damn thing float. He's God, right? So what he does is suspend the laws of physics around it, but only on the condidtion that they made it the way he said. Like with the mana incident in the desert. Free miracle, but only if you do it the way I want to. Also solves the feeding part too. And the waste. Only thing left is transportation...

I would expect that it's nobody wants to drown. Or deal with all that waste from the live stock. The actions of some few to the contrary, H. sapiens is pretty smart.

I agree that there's no doubt the flood myth(s) came from local events and the tellers were dealing with the world as they knew it. What I have always wondered is how an ark became involved. My hypothosis is that the yarn got embellished and adapted as it traveled until it became the incredable sea story we hear and argue about today.

Then, there's the questions of 900 year old men and giants, and those are probably best left to another time.

I agree that if Noah's Flood was a miracle, then it could explain anything. However, I wonder if the "Flood Geologists" unconsciously recognize that, in their attempts to construct a non-miraculous account of it and its actions.

I've amused myself a bit by looking for some examples of ecological correspondence across the fossil record.

* Ichthyosaurs and cetaceans. Both were/are good swimmers, meaning that a flood would not have sorted them out.

* Ceratopsians, titanotheres, and rhinoceroses were/are all big and horned and eaters of relatively low vegetation.

* Sauropods, indricotheres, and giraffes all have/had long necks, suggesting adaptation for eating tree leaves.

* Duckbills and ruminants were/are both grazers.

logic is a purely contrived and human contrivance, therfore fatally flawed. god has no use for logic, he does as he will and you all will burn in hell for questioning his will.

i know this for a fact because god told me so when i was ripped on some really righteous windowpane acid.

You are dating yourself there~

I s'pose I should recipricate by mentioning Oz (Owsley) hits. I never dropped. I was as it were the "designated straight guy." Once, I had a roommate that dosed me. I never saw the SOB again. Not a bad trip all 'n all.

Let's all email Carl baugh and ask him to build a real life size model of the ark. Email his Creation Evidences Museum and tell him that would be a better investment than a new museum building.
