Most of the people here grant simplicity a high value, hence they use Ockham's razor to justify their faith in naturalism. I do not value simplicity as much as they do, and so I choose Santa, the Tooth Fairy and the Easter Bunny!

See how smart I am? woohoo!

I think you're very smart because you moved out from living with your mother!

You have that backwards. It is much more simple to believe that God did everything, that God created everything, that God knows everything, and to follow a system of belief where other people tell you what to do and what to believe.

It is much more difficult to attempt to discern reality from fantasy, as well as fact from myth. Saying people here grant simplicity a high value is disingenuous. The process and nuances of Evolution and the properties of the universe are far more complex and difficult to understand than a simple God belief.

You're right. Reasons alone won't convince anyone to have faith in Jesus.

Christian apologetics is for the intellectual, who tends to grapple with biblical truth. A person can learn everything about Jesus, but unless they decide to cross the line of faith and believe, the knowledge doesn't become truly recognizable to them in the spirit.

The question that's being asked is a fair one. Faith is an act of trust and commitment. We generally won't trust anyone including God unless we step-out in faith and are willing to get to know the person on a more intimate level. Many biblical scholars are not actually Christians, because they lack faith. Part of coming to faith for me 3 years ago was admitting that I didn't have all the answers and acknowledging the one who does.

Helen is in a league all to herself.
She is a logical contradiction a thinking, questioning christian who uses reason as much as faith........I wish there were more like her.

Thanks, Wolf!

The logical disconnects in my thinking are in different places than other Christians...

Just so, part of abandoning faith for me lo these many years ago was admitting to myself the possibility that no one has all the answers, certainly not me, certainly not the purveyors of organized religion.

The scary thing about religion is that if you believe you have a book with all the answers in and it's infallible, how is that different from you thinking you have all the answers? Aren't you back in the place of having all the answers, then?
