Okay, so you finally figured out that life has no meaning. That you are just an animal alive for a tiny fraction of time, and that nobody is up in the sky marking down your thoughts and deeds in a big cosmic permanent record....

It is pretty scary just how insignificant you are, when you first think about it.

But if you think about it some more, you'll come to a place where you will feel a sense of freedom. This sounds a little selfish, and it is, but it doesn't mean that your selfishness needs to be harmful to other people. Go ahead and accomplish great things, if you want to. Or become famous, if you want to. If you want to just live a quiet, peaceful life, taking care of yourself and those who are dear to you, do that. Don't feel compelled to make your mark, or make the world a better place, or make a million bucks, unless that is what will make you happy. It's your life. It belongs to you.

Consciousness is like a gift. I don't mean from God. But it's still a pretty awesome thing. Learn all you can. Love all you can. Appreciate your health and the fact that you can move around and do things. Solve a few problems. Take on a few challenges.

This is what I wish for my children. It's what I wish for everyone.
