Try this instead.
  • Pick up the Koran.
  • Turn to a random page.
  • Read.
  • Stop when you get to something either violent or morally objectionable.
  • Count how many pages you read.

I would bet that you didn't read more than 2 pages. maybe in a few places... 3.

The Bible doesn't compare to that at all. At least you have Jesus saying "Love your fellow man" in some form or another. The argument that Christianity as a religion of love at least can be made from the bible. IMO, there is no way to do it with the Koran. It's a complete invention.

Is that too hard? Or can't you locate any violent scripture?

Digital Chicken:

Still no quotes from the Koran? Are you not allowed to read it?

No it's not hard. It's too easy. That's the point and its not worth the time.

If we did a tit for tat thread like you suggest we'd be here for a month.

I gave you a simple and reliable algorithm for finding violent scriptures in the Koran. I have no obligation to do your research for you.

It's so easy and yet you don't have a single example? Not even one?

You must have read the entire thing since you said "It's a complete invention." Could you at least give us all a good lesson, using strictly scriptural examples, of how the Koran is less believable than the Bible?

This reminds me of the famous, "was Stalin less of a monster than Hitler" thread. Let's make room for it in the pantheon of "Dubious Distinctions".

27. The Companions of the Right Hand,- what will be the Companions of the Right Hand?
28. (They will be) among Lote-trees without thorns,
29. Among Talh trees with flowers (or fruits) piled one above another,-
30. In shade long-extended,
31. By water flowing constantly,
32. And fruit in abundance.
....
41. The Companions of the Left Hand,- what will be the Companions of the Left Hand?
42. (They will be) in the midst of a Fierce Blast of Fire and in Boiling Water,
43. And in the shades of Black Smoke:
44. Nothing (will there be) to refresh, nor to please:
45. For that they were wont to be indulged, before that, in wealth (and luxury),
46. And persisted obstinately in wickedness supreme!
I found this randomly using the stated algorithm. Number of pages of reading before I found it: 1.5.

Deut 32:21-25
They made me jealous by what is no god and angered me with their worthless idols. I will make them envious by those who are not a people; I will make them angry by a nation that has no understanding. For a fire has been kindled by my wrath, one that burns to the realm of death below. It will devour the earth and its harvests and set afire the foundations of the mountains.

I will heap calamities upon them and spend my arrows against them. I will send wasting famine against them, consuming pestilence and deadly plague; I will send against them the fangs of wild beasts, the venom of vipers that glide in the dust. In the street the sword will make them childless; in their homes terror will reign. Young men and young women will perish, infants and gray-haired men.

Thus saith our peaceful Lord. Amen.

Don't expect me to believe that the Bible is more peaceful.

Well of course.

If one is unwilling to investigate claims and asks others to do it for them then one is hostage to one's own prejudices and the limits of what others tell them.

I've read the Koran and I've read the Bible. I was trying to get a Christian (which you may be, though I'm not sure since you have no interest in discussing your faith) to at least skim the Koran and see if they had the same impression. Of course, as usual, you're going to base your opinion on faith because Christianity has no foundation in reality.

PS: I don't think Islam is true either, but with all the retarded religious conservatives in this country damning Islam, I felt it was an interesting point.
