Some of my Brit friends here in Taiwan are already starting to complain....now at least I understand why Blair followed Bush into this. He is a religious nut like Bush is.

To be fair to Blair, he's a different kind of religious nut to Bush. Bush seems to be a born-again fundie. Blair is an Anglican with Catholic tendencies (i.e. just as nutty, but a different flavour of nut).

Blair is not so very far from GW in his beliefs. Last year it came to light that a school in Liverpool was teaching creationist nonsense in science lessons. When Blair was questioned about this disgrace he refused to condemn the school

creationist British style British creationist nutballs

In the Commons on Wednesday, Prime Minister Tony Blair defended Emmanuel College saying reports that it was promoting creationism were "somewhat exaggerated".
As another poster has already pointed out, if Blair had made a big thing of his religious beliefs during the last two election campaigns he would have made himself unelectable.

However; I think he has adopted a more and more presidential style of late and that look in his eyes when he is delivering his heart felts to the nation, which some mistake as sincerity, to me looks more like the mad eyed stare of fundamentalist preacher.

Anywho the British satirical magazine Private Eye has been on to him for some time St Albions

Please.Excuse.Me.Whilst.I.Scream.Loudly.

I'm currently spending two months in Portugal which is predominantly Catholic with my Catholic girlfriend, and when I return home to Britain I'm going to have to listen to even more religious babble from the powers that be.

My tolerance levels are quickly evaporating .... especially when religious people think it is acceptable to foist their views onto the rest of us through a political medium.

I mean, the vast majority of people in the U.K don't even *care* about religion, and in my experience, it's always been the Christians who have been treated with some suspicion and not the other way around ....

Seems to me we're taking another step backwards ...

Cool

Well the most suspicious mind about Christian are secular and liberal. I guess they should realise that the secular native will be out for a few more generation and be replace by non-native that even worse then the Christian in their toleration level. Indeed secular and liberal in the west are in act of undermining themselves sorry to say that is fact.
