I think you are getting confused. Even before Christ set foot on the world, there were people righteous enough to go to heaven. For instance, John the Baptist. Christ also testified about those who did not need to repent:
So, let me get this straight. Some people get to go to heaven without Jesus.

Luk 5:32 I came not to call the righteous, but sinners to repentance. There are people who don't sin.

Just because someone never knew Christ, does not automatically mean is eternally condemned.
Some people are not automatically sent to hell even if they don't belive in Jesus.
As far as people being born into different religious cultures, the bible clearly teaches that the external idolatry of semi-heathen cultures can be forgiven by God, provided the foolishness of their outward rites are acknowledged. One example is Naaman who asked forgiveness of Elijah for performing the outward rites of heathenism.

2Ki 5:18 [Naaman speaking] "In this thing the LORD pardon thy servant, [that] when my master goeth into the house of Rimmon to worship there, and he leaneth on my hand, and I bow myself in the house of Rimmon: when I bow down myself in the house of Rimmon, the LORD pardon thy servant in this thing".
2Ki 5:19 And [Elijah] said unto him, Go in peace.

Some people can be heathens and still worship in heathen ways in heathen temples and as long as they tell God whats going on all that is OK.
The bible also teaches that all judgment is entrusted to God, so you can't say that Christianity teaches that everyone who has never heard of Christ will go to hell. It plainly does not teach this. It only teaches that everyone who rejects the true Christ will go to hell., but that presumes that the true Christ was preached, which it isn't always.] As long as people don't hear about the true Jesus they wont go to hell. Why all this is just too wonderful. I never knew that God had so many outs for us. I just know the True Jesus has never been preached to me, why if he had been I'd of believed wouldn't I? I just know I would have! And by golly till True Jesus shows up I can carry on all my heathen ways with not a worry in the world. Wait till the coven hears this. Thank you OM, I'm not confused any more.
