*For reassurance of WHAT? That I know my own mind?

There's a difference between association and reassurance.

I come here because there is more intelligent debate at this website than any other one that I've been to (although there was one link to another forum where they were debating who would win a fight between God and the Silver Surfer ).

I live in the Bible Belt and deal with a lot of the same arguments in real life that xians bring up on the board here. It's nice to have a resource at hand to get factual answers based on sound thinking, logic and experiment to dispute them with and poke holes in their not-so-well-thought-out theories. However, now that I have a lot more arguments to back up my side of the debate, they're not arguing with me as much anymore. It was fun hearing about how the speed of light is slowing down and there's no proof of evolution, but when people try to argue that science proves religion is true, it annoys them when they hear that science doesn't back them up. Not that I've ever convinced anyone of anything, mind you, they just stopped talking to me about it.

I don't come here to be reassured about my beliefs (or lack thereof). I come here becasue it's interesting and a lot of people know what they're talking about and back up what they're saying wiht references and facts - which I find to be refreshingly honest.

Basically, this place really is a drop of reason in a pool of confusion.
