"Modern philosophy recognizes no proven translation between mind and matter."

I don't know if philosophy has anything to do with it. I could be wrong, but until we find something other than matter/energy to work with, well what do you propose?

The human genome fits on 23 microscopic bundles of protien. Each transfer of information requires much less than a micro watt.

Snatchbalance,

Thanks for your input. About my statement on modern philosophy, I was hoping someone would contadict me. I tried Pat Churchland's NEUROPHILOSOPHY several years ago and didn't have the background to appreciate the book. Does anyone know if it is worthy of appreciation?

Theory

Mental content consists of symbolized genetic activity.

I had a prof. once who said if you cant state it in a sentence, you can't state it in a book.

Isn't this back to idealism? How can our thoughts about stars be "sybolized genetic activity"?

John.

Idealism? No. Experience? Yes. Stars are the ova of our universe, interpreted as emitting the elements responsible for life and for the environments necessary for life's propagation. Whatever we discover in space is a discovery within ourselves. We cannot see beyond genetics!

In a humorous vein, I am happy to be a stellar fart!

ROFLMAO. Gee Ierrellus, I don't know how to break this to you but farts do not cause the propogation of life. Quite the opposite in my experience.....

John,
Here's more merriment. Webster definition of guanine--a purine that is a constituent of both RNA and DNA--{from where it is found "guano"}--a substance composed chiefly of the dung of sea
birds or bats. . .

Batshit as a tool for propagation of life forms?
Nature abhors a vacuum!

Abstraction is an expression of genetic activity?
