I saw it also. Perhaps the Guy was pulling a con-job on the world but it didn't seem like it.

Ad hominem

Since you present no rebuttal, I assume you concede?

I don't think there's any particular evidence for an afterlife, but it seems to me that if we're already positing a mode of existence in which you can think without a brain, see without eyes, hear without ears, learn new things indefinitely without forgetting old ones, and generally exist without a body, then it doesn't seem to be that much of a further stretch to imagine that your capacity for boredom could be obliterated as well.

You might say that without your capacity for boredom you would be different enough not to qualify as the same person you were when alive, but I think that objection could equally be made about these other suppositions we're all taking for granted.

Maybe most people just have more limits to their imagination than I do. Oh well.
I'm not assuming that once I die time stops and all I can study is the past- when did I say that at all? There is always somthing new happening-new dramas unfolding for ETERNITY. After a trillion years I might get bored, but I gues I have a limited imagination

Why didn't he panic, realizing that he couldn't recall who he was, or where he was? Why would his wife visit him every day? This sounds exceedingly emotionally draining, to say the very least, having to introduce yourself and answer the same basic questions every day.

The story may be real, but it is so glossed with sugar I actually looked for it at "Chicken Soup for the Soul" before looking for any medical history on it. Speaking of that, I can't find any - Have any?

Fraid not. I saw it years ago. At least a decade. I don't know why he didn't panic physically, but I think the presence of the journal was a pretty severe form of panic, don't you?

In fact, he did not know the journal was his. He insisted that someone else had written all of the previous entries, but he needed the paper.

Yes, his wife cried before entering and after leaving. it -is- emotionally draining.

I sat next to a concussion victim and answered the same 6 questions, rapid-fire, for over 5 hours. Every 10 seconds. Literally, for 5 hours. I was compelled to answer the questions. it seemed so frightening that my friend didn't know the answer. She wasn't panicked, she didn't realize she had just asked the same question 20 seconds earlier, or that she had asked each of the 6 over 100 times. It was draining. But I couldn't leave her to not have the answer. That seemed cruel. Finally, after over 5 hours, she paused. And said, "I just asked that, didn't I?" *exhale*. Relief.

This is a very common occurrence in concussion sufferers. If you'd like to see how it works, visit an emergency room. I'm sure the staff would be grateful to have someone at the bedside answering the questions and you can experience the dynamic first-hand.

The show I saw was taken from a videotape in the man's room. The audience watched him wake up, watched him do things, watched him fall for his wife. Not sure how you'd sugar-coat that. But it's possible, I suppose.

However, my experience with the concussion is first-hand. And it alone offers a satisfactory example of eternal "bliss" IMO. One that I find incredibly distasteful - or more like *wasteful* I guess - but the kind of thing that could explain the Christians' claim of eternall bliss.

Cool

Eternity is for the eternal. Human beings are obviously temporal.

Problem solved.

((Oh, wait, someone believes they have evidence, i.e., they can prove that humans are NOT temporal - then please share. Oh, you only have a belief or faith or wish or desire or some emotional based or whiny tantrumesque 'argument' that humans aren't temporal - then please DON'T share.))

For fun...

If such is the case, then my wish is quite granted - I will cease to exist, and someone who merely resembles me will take my place.

Ok, and your soul would then be removed from the body it resides. Tell me how I would know the difference if another soul saw the oppurtunity and inhabited the body you decided to leave? For that other soul, confined in the body you left, would do the exact same actions as if your soul left it. I dare you to leave your body.

Cease to exist? Thats another matter enitrely. You cant. Deal with it.

your example mentioned above is extremely lacking in human psychology, and bits of logic.

I haven't even read what example you're talking about. But oh my, isn't human psychology and logic of the uttmost? Oh, how I wish I could be as great and wise to abide by human logic and psychology. Oh...humans....oh...they're soo....oh they're so great oh my....mmmmm...wonderful.

What have you been watching, Star Trek?

It's things like this, if any, that want me to allow Him to flush the toilet.

Heh, you mention a "soul", I am interested to hear what this is. The ancient people simply invented it because they didn't know their own unique identify was a mix of their neural arrangement and state. Change a few neruons, and that person is not you, simply someone very very similar to you. Which makes you think, you actually become a new person very often.....
