LOL, so true. Of course this would mean that God doesn't care about justice, but vengence. Thus, perhaps some xians should reword their argument by saying that oblivion does not satisfy God's vengeful nature as much as eternal torment would.

Yes, but through doublethink and self-righteousness, a lot of them see no difference between vengeance and justice, so long as their own god does it.

But, if the other gods do it, then it becomes something evil to be looked down upon.

Hmm...

God is watching you.

Cue the Santa Claus music:

"He knows when you're sleeping, he knows when you're awake. He knows if you've been bad or good and how often you wank. And he's jealous that he can't join in because of his incorporeal form, so he ruins it for everyone else. Oh...etc."

Hmm...maybe he's bitter because people killed him off on the one chance he got at being a corporeal entity and getting to enjoy wanking.

No, my bet is that the sacrifice was the biggest 'divine masturbation session' of all time. After all, it was planned from the beginning.

Hmm. You know, it makes sense. It was such a big masturbation session that God was only able to come once. That we have to wait so long for the second coming is indicative of how big it must have been for God.

It is also said that separation from god causes us to be in eternal torture, because 'god isn't there.' Well, what I don't understand is this - what's the difference between eternal separation and eternal oblivion? In both situations one would be away from god, right? So what is so special about the pain aspect of it? Is it just the 'justice' that believers really want, or the satisfaction of seeing those who chose a different faith (or lack of one) burn in hell?

Any other views/opinions on this?
We can't really apply time, ie finite sins bring infinite torment, because eternity is outside of time as we know it.

That the saints may enjoy their beatitude and the grace of God more abundantly they are permitted to see the punishment of the damned in hell.

Huh? Do you have any idea what you're talking about? I sure don't.
