The NSDAP fomented hate against Jews who had been living in Germany all their lives, had in many cases served and fought in the German army during World War I, were law-abiding, tax-paying citizens, who never raised a hand against their fellow Germans more than any non-Jewish German had in the normal daily course of events.
Now to the Palestinians, who departed Palestine upon the declaration of the State of Israel, expecting to return with victorious Arab armies (oops!) and who spent the next four decades suporting an organisation that professed the goal of wiping out the State of Israel.
Israeli citizens of Arab ethnicity and Islamic faith, however, are. So the Israelis have some laws slanted against people who voluntarily left the country and profess loyalty to an organisation that aims to wipe out the State of Israel? Well, <img src="graemlins/boohoo.gif" border="0" alt="[Boo Hoo]" />
Since we're two generations down the line, so it's not fair and just (any more), but it's a long shot from dispossessing loyal citizens. (Note also that "Palestinians" - i.e. those who left in 1948 and their descendants, as opposed to those who stayed and are now "Arab Israelis" - are not citizens or legal residents of the State of Israel.)
You may have had a case if they had stayed to Israel, but the Israelis kept taking more and more land away from the Palestinians over the years. They weren't satisfied with what was originally taken. They want it all.

The Israelis tried to give them back. The palestinians rejected and have rejected all offers of peace for the simple reason that they do not want a peace that includes a state of Israel. Do you have any idea how easy it would be for Israel to wipe every palestinian off the face of the earth? They do not do so and continue to try to find a solution. If the situation was reversed, would the palestinians refrain? Stop making me laugh, my sides are hurting.

I assume you're referring to the Gaza Strip and the West Bank; it should be noted that the Israelis do not regard these as "occupied" but as "disputed" territories, and I for one agree with them.
The West Bank and the Gaza Strip were part of the territory of Palestine rpior to the declaration of the State of Israel in 1948; they were part of the territory of Israel at the time the state was declared and recognised by the (member states of the) United Nations. In the war that immediately followed, the West Bank was occupied by Transjordan (now Jordan) and the Gaza Strip by Egypt; admittedly, both countries were awarded those respective territories in the peace treaty that ended the Arab-Israeli War of 1948, but arguably Israel did not so much occupy these territories in the Six Day war of 1967 as retake them.

Anyway, we're miles off-topic here; this discussion really belongs in "political."

The original comparison we were discussing was not "how does the Israeli government compare to Nazis?" (and I'll just comment that comparing the Israelis to the South African regime of the Apartheid period would hold more water than comparing them to the Nazis), it was "how do American 'Conservative Christians' compare to European Jews of the 1930s and 1940s?"

In America, conservative people of faith continue to be the only group that can be rigorously denounced and persecuted without the American Civil Liberties Union stepping in to defend them
Excuse the heck out of me, but didn't the _ACLU_ step in to defend _Jerry_Falwell's_ congregation itself against a tax law?

LOL!

Falwell, liar, fraud.

Can you back this up with a link or something? I'm not saying you're wrong; I've just never heard this and I'd be interested in reading about it.

Thanks.

First time I ever saw "The Teletubbies" (hey, they're a great time if you're stoned ) the first thing I thought when I saw Tinky-Winky was "Wow, Falwell has some kickass gaydar."
