How wrong you truly are. I don't want to go to Heaven to laugh at you because you are suffering in Hell, I want to go to Heaven to be with God.

Did I say YOU? You don't represent 100% of the believers. There was a post that dealt with the subject of people wanting to laugh at people in hell. I don't know where or what one it is.

Many christians have argued that these are absolutely essential - without the possibility of suffering, they claim there is no possiblity of happiness.

It's nice to see you agree they're wrong.

So, why does God see fit to allow us to suffer when you've now admitted that it's not actually all that important?
I don't know what Christians you are talking about, but if they claim that, they have never read the Bible. Going to church and tithing doesn't make you Christian.

Pure and sinless? Um, I'm sorry, but there's a serious problem here. There is a grand total of 0 perfect people on earth today. Not a single perfect person. Now while you may well argue that the world is full of forgiven people, these forgiven people are still imperfect, and have sinful desires. (Ok, this assumes your idea of sin is valid, but we're talking about what you believe so I can live with that for a few minutes.)

What happens to these desires? When we go to heaven will God turn us into robots with no free will, or will people freely become sinless?

Seriously, I want an answer to this. You have used "people simply must have free will" to justify God allowing terrible crimes to be committed by people, and now you seem to think people can be free from all sin. I want to know if you've decided free will is unimportant, or if people with free will can still be perfect and sinless.
Perhaps you didn't read the part of my post about us getting perfect, incorruptable bodies? Yes, no one on Earth has ever existed that has been sinless and perfect except Jesus. By being saved by Jesus, and reborn - our spirit is changed. The body is still corrupted. Those who are saved in Christ despise sin, and try to avoid it at all costs. We still sin since we are in corrupted bodies, in a fallen world - but the Holy Spirit convicts us of our sin, and we repent of it. Once we are brought to heaven in perfect bodies, we become complete. We will no longer want to sin because we know the pain and destruction sin causes from living on Earth. We will still have the free will to sin, but you would have to be pretty dumb to suffer on Earth, turn your life over to Christ and give up your sins, and then after being brought to paradise, you turn right around and sin again.

So to answer your question, yes, in a perfect body - with a redeemed soul that yearns to be like Christ, you can be perfect and sinless while still having free will.

So you go to heaven after celebrating the sinnrs being condemned to hell for eternity? What, you're not looking forward to the presents you'll get when you celebrate sinners going to hell? I'm sure you must think that'll be a great party - it says so in the bible.
Why do atheists assume we will be celebrating your rejection of God? Its kinda hard to even discuss theology when you really have no grasp of what being a saved Christian and living for God means.

Quote:
That still leaves a question, though: if you go to heaven but your children reject Jesus and go to hell, will you miss them? Will you truely be happy even though you know that your loved ones messed up their lives and will be paying the price for eternity?
I already answered that. We will have a greater understanding of God and how his judgement works. On Earth, from our miniscule perception, sure it sounds like we'd be upset, and it is upsetting to think of lost ones right now who aren't saved. In Heaven though, we will understand the system completely and will come to the realization - they had the chance to be saved, and they rejected it ( like you all do here).

Quote:
Isn't it possible that you can realise that your loved ones deserve to be punished but still be very sad that they screwed up so badly?
Nope, because there is no sadness, grief or tears in Heaven. We will have perfect understanding of the choice they made, and will accept that they made it, and have to suffer the consequences of sin.

The thing that really disturbs me though is that many christians claim to know exactly why it is right for God to condem sinnes to hell. They believe that power and strength equates to moral superiority. It's, apparantly, perfectly christian to believe that might makes right is the supreme moral law.

Do you have any alternative explanation for why finite sin deserves infinite punishment?
Yes i do, and iv'e explained it before but no one here cares, or understands it. Sin is so severe because of who it offends. God is an infinite, perfect, Holy being. Sin against him is deserving of eternal punishment. It has nothing to do with might is right, it has to do with perfect justice and righteousness - something that has never existed on Earth. Sin = an infinite crime - therefore the punishment is infinite.
If you beat up a homless guy, you aren't gonna get the same punishment as if you beat up the President of the U.S. Now multiply the offense against the President by infinity, and you have the worst crime imaginable - that deserves eternal punishment. You can hate the system all you want. Its how it is - you either accept God's gift and heed His warning, or face the consequences. You can say He doesn't exist, or its not fair until you are blue in the face - that doesn't change the system or make you any less responsible for your sin. God's ways, are not human ways. He is judge, jury and executioner, and every decision He makes is perfect and righteous whether you agree or not.

So called Christians who think they are better than unbelievers, and look forward to watching them suffer in Hell aren't true Christians, and I would have my doubts that they are saved and live for Christ. Now, do we all sometimes want to see justice on some heinous person like Hitler? Yes, its corrupted human nature, and we slip up and think that way sometimes. But we don't cheer all the time, basking in the thoughts of all the unbelievers burning in Hell.

PROVE IT. Name a sin that has detrimental effect through to the end of time.

I don't really care. You disappeared for a few days, I was hoping that you were gone for good. :boohoo: :boohoo: :boohoo:

Then again, your posts make for great, entertaining reading.

One other thing - how did you know I was addressing you if you didn't read my post?

That would imply that we could hurt god, but an omnipotent being could not be harmed.

No matter what the offense is, if God truely loved us he would forgive us, even if we don't ask. My dog will chew up my stuff all the time, but do I go and throw her in the microwave and set it on high? Also, nothing we do can hurt God. If I steal something, how would that hurt him? He might say, dang, look at this mess of a creation I made... but I didn't choose to be an imperfect being. He made me like that. He also knows I feel sorry about it. I don't think I need to say it out loud in prayer fashion to prove that.

But don't you understand? That would mean everybody could get in and then they wouldn't be special. That's just way too easy to be true.

Well, I certainly don't think I've done anything worthy of being put on your "ignore" list and I'd kinda like to know the answer. So I'll repeat winstonjen's question:

Quote:

I personally want to know because most of my family is Christian and very few of them believe that most of the sins outlined in the Bible are worthy of eternal punishment.
