Nope. Even if I meet one(who claims that he is enlightened), I will most likely distrust his words because a true awakened person will never think of himself as enlightened.
The Buddha seemed to have no such compunctions.

There will be no Buddhas now and in the coming centuries.

If we lived in the time of Siddhatha Gautama, would we believe that he was Buddha?

"If we lived in the time of Siddhatha Gautama, would we believe that he was Buddha? "

My question : If we lived in time of Gautama, would he cared if anyone believed that he was a Buddha?

Then who would follow his teachings?

"Then who would follow his teachings?"

My reply : When you see THIS message on the screen, does that means you need to believe that the computer told you what you see or that there is someone (whom you never seen, and probably never will) somewhere in the world who wrote message and your computer just displaying it for your knowledge?

Same with Buddha. He doesn't need to worry what other think of him, IF they felt he could give them what they seek, then THEY will follow. If not, they have choice to follow whatever they choose to be. Gautama don't lose anything, God doesn't lose anything, and they (both Gautama and God) don't force anyone.

This reminds me of Dostoyevsky's Grand Inquisitor...

Perhaps an enlightened person would feel no need to claim anything, but if you asked they might say "sure". What then?

Buddhist Perspective on the Existence or Non-Existence of Time in Ultimate Reality.

Buddhism questions the nature and reality of psychological time. That time is based on the apparent fragmentation of consciousness within an the observer. That fragmentation creates a time bound perception of division between the observer and the observed. The question is only resolved when one awakens to the nature of awareness. That awakening dissolves the matrix of psychological time into the non-duel source.

The concept is similar to the matrix of space time collapsing into the singularity of a black (whole) hole. When one contemplates stillness and climbs the inverted (gravity well) mountain of attention, mass(consciousness) is gathered and eventually collapses the matrix of psychological space time. The observer becomes the observed.

Most people only have a concept
of “Enlightenment”. The question must be asked ,”What is enlightenment?”

Perhaps when one arrives at enlightenment...one realizes that he had never left.

Well, at that time, some don't, some do. Anyway, He just teach and it will be you who decide to follow His words or not.
