Default Profanity

I have always had a very "colorful" vocabulary. I have been told that my very first sentence, put together when I was two years old, was: "Fucker bitch ass punk." I tried to quit swearing when I was a teenage fundamentalist christian, but when I joined the Army I had to start swearing again to enable communication with the drills. What about you? Do you swear a lot? Only in certain company or forums? Why or why not?

Exclamation

I can be pretty profane although it tends to naturally "switch off" without having to think about it when I am A) at work or B) around my grandparents/husband's parents/sister's little kids. Other than at times like that I would say I swear more than average with a heavy emphasis on sacreligious profanity such as "Jesus motherfucking christ on a stick, that shit is fucked up!" or some such.

(Except one time I let out a "Jesus fucking christ and all the saints in hell" in front of my mother-in-law who is Catholic. She pretended not to hear me though )

I don't swear too much.

My department head at my last company swore so bad that the construction forman at a project site asked him if he could tone his language down a bit.

My wife thought I was kidding until she met him at the company christmas party and he greeted her with "It's about god-damned time I met you" then told her I was doing a good fucking job for the company.

He toned it down being christmas and all.

I have been saying some pretty bad things as of late. Normally, I don't cuss unless I am very angry. I'm trying to cuss in carny so that it won't sound so bad.

I think I swear slightly more than average, although I definitely tone it down around the relatives. I have slipped up a couple of times and said the F word around my mother... oops

Side note: One of the funniest uses of swearing occurred when my darling little baby sister was 8 or 9. She's playing a video game, and as she's blasting away the enemy spaceships, she lets loose with a resounding "I'll see you in HEEEEEELLLLLLLLLLL!!"

I wouldn't say I swear a lot. I do try to tone it down when I'm around people that don't swear, but I don't stop altogether. Swearing does not bother me as long as it's used in the proper context, and not swearing for swearing's sake.

This thread reminds me of an Onion article a long time ago about a salesman who "had been to every good damn house in the neighborhood and didn't sell one fucking bible! Those bastards were high quality bibles, too..."

Default Fan i helvete heller...

I tend to use a little more than an average amount of "colorful" language when I'm in a casual conversation but I have no problem of switching between "levels" when the situation calls for it.

If people think that I am stupid because of it?

Well... fuck them...

What the fuck is that supposed to mean? Goddam swearing? Shit, are you fucking kidding me? 'Cause I'm just kidding around here!

Fuck no, I never use any shitty cusswords.

OK, it gets easier to curtail your swearing when your child starts to repeat the words you, or anyone else around, or even characters on TV, says! I never use any around kids or most of my relatives. Since I've gotten out of the military, I only use profanity around those at work who also use it, and then sparingly. 'Course, I have let out a few choice words when I got burned on the soldering irons!

Not often as I don't see much reason for it.

So many of the cuss words are too short and don't fulfill me. I'd rather shout "Alamagordo!", stressing each syllable to get full enjoyment from the exercise.

Besides, it makes people think "what the hell does that mean?"

cheers,
Michael
