Most of those people are kidding themselves. They don't let putatively religious authorities think for them, they just find a secular dogma dreamed up by secular authorities to adhere to. Not a dime's worth of difference between them.

What dogma would that be?

I'm going with that basic premise, "We are both atheists, I just believe in ONE LESS god than you." (emphasis mine)

There is no dogma related to atheism, unless it's a militant atheist, and I have only seen two of those. Whereas, every fundy I see tends to be further over the edge, and most make them pale in comparison. I think you have not learned the definition of dogma.

It doesn't matter. Humanism, existentialism, or any of the other ideologies, or a mixture of them, will fill the intellectual vacuum for such people.

Who gets to define where the edge is?

Why would that be?

Uh, yeah. Perhaps you should go look at who you responded to. Or learn to pay attention, either will do.

Odd, I would rather fill the intellectual vacuum, then just vacate my common sense in order to be able to accept an obviously immoral and illogical lifestyle such as those cults that abound

Common consensus. Pick up a book occasionally, they're not all satan inspired tomes goaled to stray you from your god.

Why would that be?Damn, if it's not obvious to you, explaining it will be of precious little sense on my part.

Does the difference between the prepositions "about" and "to" escape you?

Two sides of the same coin.

Common consensus.
Why looky here, Virgil - another worshipper at the Altar of Consenus!

Guess that means that Hitler wasn't over the edge, since the effective consensus of the German people said otherwise, huh?

Are you this vacuuous in person as well? I WAS THE ONE WHO FLIPPED HIM OFF TO THINK FOR MYSELF. I ESCAPED CHRISTIANITY, MAYBE YOU WILL TOO

Two sides of the same coin.
I think you missed the inference...But thanks for agreeing.

Snappy comeback, can I write that one down?

Guess that means that Hitler wasn't over the edge, since the effective consensus of the German people said otherwise, huh? Germany is hardly the world. And you'll find that Germany did not agree with Hitler, it can well be argued that the majority were not even aware that the jewish population was being systematically killed

I got the inference all right.

Germany is hardly the world.
May I take that to mean that if the world consensus had been that Hitler wasn't over the edge, he wouldn't have been?

If you mean that Hitler was not elected by a majority vote, it's not relevant, because they failed to scream bloody murder when he took absolute control.

There were more evidences of Hitler's despotic tendencies than the smoke from the ovens.

But to give another example, the consensus of Americans at the time of the founding was that blacks were not fully human. Does that mean that they weren't?

Good, at least you're not blind

Do you really want to get into Humanity vs. God morality? Because, the "is it evil" ratio seriously falls like a hammer on your god.

You have to be aware of something to bitch about it.

Really, because I was under the impression that German government did such a good job of propaganda that the populace weren't even aware that they had lost the first war until reparations were dictated. Hence, allowing Hitler to use a betrayal agenda to get himself into the top slot...Perhaps I am mistaken about the dynamics of the rise and fall of the german machine, then again Ich studiere noch.

But to give another example, the consensus of Americans at the time of the founding was that blacks were not fully human. Does that mean that they weren't?And if your brand of morality was still in fashion?

I have GOT to get some of whatever you're smoking. That has got to be some good shit. Do you ever post on topic? Do you ever use actual research, or do you generally just post assertions from fundy sites? Maybe you should go back to AIG, let them know no one's buying over here.
