Does this ruling take effect immediately? I mean, will American kids be skipping "under god" tomorrow morning?

[I forgot. The kids aren't going to school tomorrow ]

Precisely. The entire opinion is based upon Supreme Court precedent. The (partial) dissent is lame, with some vague references to the marvelous immensity of the universe. The dissenter sounds more like the West Coast flake.

I'm willing to bet we won't see it from the Supremes, though. I could be wrong, but Scalia has been pretty consistent in his conservative principles. And Thomas seems to always vote along with him.

Hey Fundies!!

If I read correctly, the appeals court remanded, which means they sent it back to the lower court to be retried (or re-decisioned) with the caveat that the decision that was just overturned cannot be rendered again. So no, as of now there is no official ruling, just that the rejection of the plaintiff's case is not the correct ruling.

Remeber those T-Shirts that said "I agree with Mike" because he got a big hard-on for Jesus? I've never seen them but some of you guys saw them around you colleges, it was some Campus Crusade bullshit. Anyway, I think we should make up some shirts that say "I agree with Micheal Newdow." I know I'd buy one.

Great, I vote on CNN and I get the window with the results in a couple of seconds. I vote on FOX and the results window is still processing. <img src="confused.gif" border="0">

OK, so how does this play out? Let's assume that the decision stands (SC either upholds it or refuses to hear an appeal), does this mean that the original version of the Pledge will be recited in schools (which I have no problem with) or is the Pledge in both forms entirely out the window?
