Is this statement true?

"The first 'democracy' where universal education was a) Jewish, and b) run by women. It lasted several hundred years"

Please comment...I have never heard of this.

What does "It" in the second part refer to? Is this supposed to refer to some part of Biblical history? AFAIK the modern state of Israel is the first Jewish state that could be called a democracy.

"Universal education" is an invention of the modern era.

The person that wrote this is trying to tell me that the bible treats men and women as equals and claims that the Jews had the first democratic state, run by women, that lasted several hundred years. She couldn't be referring to modern Israel, and if she is not then what???

Might I suggest that you request the original source documentation (probably Bible verses) for this claim. Unless you have an opportunity to see and verify the evidence, there is little purpose in considering this claim as anything more than just another misinterpreted biblical myth.

You might wish to do some research on the ancient Jewish religion and exactly which sex was provided any form of education.

Cool

Sumer was the first of the three 'great' civilisations of antiquity, wich all arose in the
area of the Tigris and Euphrates rivers, and the
date of its beginning is +- 3800 B.C.

Egypt during the Old Kingdom of the Pyramid builders was quite egalitarian as far as women were concerned, probably the best in the ancient world, they could testify in court, own property, make a will, get a divorce, own their own business, even hold office, but there was no public education for everyone.
