Traditonalist catholics-catholic parallel to protestant fundyism
We all know about the liberal protestants-those Christians who don't believe what their religion taught for 1800-1900 years. Then there was the backlash-fundyism. Well, it seems there was a parallel trend in Catholicism as well. There is a fringe minority of catholics-called "traditionalists" who believe that everything that came out of Vatican 2 was way too liberal! Their key issue concerns the fact that vatican 2 sort of conceded that some non-catholics can be saved. Well, these guys seem to think that even though the pope always speaks infallibly, vatican 2 somehow wasn't infallible(they have all sorts of convoluted explanations for times when the "infallible" popes and councils contradict each other-reminds us of some of our friends elsewhere?). These guys wanna pound out to da world "no salvation outside the roman catholic church!." But, as with the protestant fundies, I guess they're more worthy of respect for having some actual principles and balls over their liberal(and not conservative enough for these guys) brethren.
Here's a link: www.romancatholicism.org They have a cool collection of quotes-some saying how cool it would be to burn one's own family members for the tiniest heresy. And, real audio clips of priestly expositions about the necessity of devotion to Mary. These people really believe all this-they are scarier than a thousand Pat Robertsons, but at least they don't seem to have much of an audience. Are there even any devout, believing, conservative catholics in the USA under the age of 70 other then these wacko traditionalist priests? |

Pius X and Pius V are two dissident "Catholic" groups. They are not in union with Rome, I believe they have their own "popes", they call John Paul II an "anti-pope", and it would be wrong and unfair to consider them Roman Catholic and to associate them with the rest of Catholics in the world.

The Roman Catholic Church still teaches that it is, "true and solid, in which one and the same way of salvation appears throughtout the whole world." CCC 174:61

How surprising that the Roman Catholic Church does not suddenly confess to getting everything wrong, or confess that perhaps alternatives aren't so bad after all. |

In my opinion, the belief that one way is the only possible true way, is an inherrantly arrogant stance, and one that stuns growth to boot. |

We're all sorry for Gemma Therese. She's so keen to get herself what she imagines will be a reward in heaven. She denies herself what any normal woman wants. She denies herself a warm fulfilling relationship with a loving, caring partner. Here's what she says.

She's like so many catholics, protestant fundies and a few other Christians. She makes herself miserable now because she imagines will be a reward later. |

Is there anything more pathetic than a young woman in love with an imaginary deity?
It's absolutely insane. |

The French branch was started by some dissident archbishop named Lefevbre. They also think the current French government is way too hard on people who patriotically formed the Vichy administration.
