Yeah, I understand that the central dogma is really more of a general rule (with exceptions) than a dogma. Though I think Wounded King's point about prions is valid. They are actually normal proteins that get produced the normal way, yet the mutated form can propagate it's structural flaw to mature wild-type proteins (which have been translated from RNA.) So self-propagating is, I think, a more apt description than self-replicating.
