Arikay, can you tell me something ? Why does everyone, but everyone, misspell the word "definitely" ? I have seen it spelled "definately" at least 10,000 times on message boards. This seems to be the standard rule -- misspell the word "definitely" as "definately". Maybe I am just prejudiced, since I nearly got a perfect 800 on my Verbal SATs, but I getting very sick of seeing "definately". DEFINITELY !

If you are tempted to post an angry reply to this, Arikay, that's fine. I have been insulted by better people than you. But PLEASE USE A SPELL CHECKER !!!! (It was Kuu, not Key, by the way).
I'm sure we are all terribly impressed by your SAT score (I only got a 750 on the verbal, but in fairness I was loaded). Why not post your ACTs, GREs or GMAT, IQ and hat size? That being said one's facility or lack thereof with language is not generally demonstrated in casual conversations. A person could could score very high on any number of verbal assessments and still make numerous typographical or grammatical errors in the context of a message board discussion. Generally people who make a point of correcting spelling and other mistakes not germane to the discussion are either pedants or have no relevant, material objections to make vis-a-vis the arguments themselves.
