Post The Tao of Pooh

Has anyone ever read "The Tao of Pooh", or "The Te of Piglet"? They were a few of the first books I read on the subject of Taoism, and actually they were some of the best, next to the Tao Te Ching itself.

Actually after I read many more translation of the Tao te ching and some commentary I began to believe they the Pooh and Piglet books were pretty poor.

I haven't, but A A Milne had philosophy running in his veins. Eeyore came out with many statements which I will never forget.

-------

"Why, what's happened to your tail?" Pooh said in surprise . . . . "Somebody must have taken it," said Eeyore. "How Like Them," he added, after a long silence.

"Not very how, I don't seem to have felt at all how for a long time."

And perhaps my favourite :

"When stuck in the river, it is best to dive and swim to the bank yourself before someone drops a large stone on your chest in an attempt to hoosh you there."

Of course.

------------------------

If you are in England and you feel like I do about Eeyore then go visit a place called Chuck Hatch in the Ashdown Forest, just a mile down the road from the hundred-acre wood and pooh bridge. Just by the northern edge of the village, there is a 'no parking' sign and a small footpath. Follow the footpath and you will find the closest thing to Eeyores boggy place that ever could be. It looks just like the pictures in the book. In the middle of it, tethered to a post, is a donkey. Been there for years. I go see him every September looking for mushrooms. It is a magical place.

----------------

Sorry if this is off topic but the Pooh stories mean a lot to me.

Both of Hills books are a great start into the teachings of the *Tao*. After reading them a quick-stop at Amazon.com was necessary. I do find myself, when talking to people who are not familiar with Taoism, quoting the ‘Tao of poo’ often.

Yes! I loved them both and if you flip through my copies, you will see many colorful phrases which I highlighted as I went along. My pocket Tao is similarly colorful, as it helps me locate the things which I find to be most helpful.

Jzen, a quote that helps me a great deal is -
"Hold on to the center." Tao Te Ching
