Actually, there are no real answer for what occurred during the big bang, as a result, its cause is debatable. Nevertheless, all of us agreed that universe can't just 'pop' out of pure nothingness. In my opinion, our universe may be in a motionless state(a stationary 'mixture' of spacetime, etc) before the big bang but somehow, due to some unknown factors(maybe due to other universes) or some random quantum effects, the 'creation' was set in motion and entropy(towards disorderness) began to increase almost at an infinite rate for the few seconds.
Of course, there are other explanations as well, for example, the cyclic theory in which, the existence universe may be a result of a previous 'destoryed' universe. At this stage, we are too early to explain anything near the beginning of 'time', so its best to keep a wide scope of opinions on this matter.

You're asking "for what purpose" again, aren't you?

Because you're asking a question that naturalism a priori denies is even meaningful.

This must be the worst equivocation of the word "exist" I've ever seen. Please don't insult our intelligence.

In short, you are the cause of your thoughts. You can think, or not. You can think some thoughts, and choose to avoid others. Upon exposure to particular external stimuli, you choose to entertain some thoughts, and reject others. Your actions, which result directly from your thoughts, are your responsibility.
</strong>
And this has what to do with the creation of matter?
