I think that, in context, "choice" clearly referred to volitional acts not dependant on, say, chemical alterations or whatever.

So, taking a pill that will change one's sexual orientation would not count as having a 'choice' as to whether to be gay or straight?

I can have my leg cut off, that doesn't mean I can choose whether or not to be a biped.

My understanding of the original context was that we were talking mostly about pure volition, not surgery or other externally-imposed alterations.

Still, even then, I don't know of any pills that will make someone straight or gay, only pills that will remove or increase sex drive.
