Post Moderating: Tell us how you'd like the job done.

Since another thread is being sidetracked, I've started this thread to discuss how the people who participate in Evolution/Creation think we moderators should act. How we should make descision, etc.

Okay, the floor is open for your comments.

I think you are doing a fine job. Censored posts and banned individuals seem to be few and far between, as well they might be. I especially commend the efforts of scigirl.

I don't like hotdogs. Sorry.

How about instituting a system where the mods periodically point out people's VICES?

I think most people become impatient with the Vituperation, Intemperance, Caterwauling, Emotionalism and Sensationalism which too often pass for reasoned arguments.

The mods could remind people of their VICES as necessary and, if they really start to add up, more determined action could be taken. I don't necessarily mean banning people, but temporarily locking threads or sending private messages to the VICE-ridden might be just the thing.

I like this idea. But how about incorporating the Dimwitted Narcissistic Arrogance system (a variant of the Arrogance, Repetitiveness and Narcissism system)?

The moderation seems to be very moderate.

This is good.

I would not want to see a Baptist Board opperation, or even the level of intervention currently at ARN.

I feel that racism and bigotry are not needed, and should not be acceptable. If posts are deleted, or threads closed, do tell us why as clearly as possible.

I see no reason to vary from current practice.

Thanks.

Stagolee, I think I'm gonna have to issue you an E, an S, and maybe even an I for that post.

Richyaado, isn't that the job of the other posters, not the moderators? That's what an argument generally means.

I think the moderation here seems fine, although I haven't been around for an all-out war (do those happen here?). It beats boards where posts are pulled for containing the hint of a four-letter word of for having more links or quotes than the mods feel is appropriate that day (which might be different from mod to mod and day to day), and it beats unmodded boards with their never-ending personal attacks and thread hijackings.

Quit fishing! You know that the E/C forum here is one of the best moderated forums on the Net, especially since I've stepped down.
