Thumbs up Hovind in more IRS trouble?

On April 14th, Hovind's Adventureland was searched by agents of the IRS, it appears, according to this thread here

There has been no news articles relating to this yet, though it sounds like one will appear in the Pensacola News-Journal today or this weekend.

If you don't want to give the far-far-righters any hits, the gist is that it appears that the ranch was searched by agents of the IRS, probably relating to past tax evasion charges. The thread is good for some entertainment, with a guest appearance by Splifford the bat, around post #240. Be warned, there is some serious Hovind fawning going on by a couple of posters...as well as a large amount of anti-IRS paranoia.

Talking

The thread has a certain amusment value, especally when they start snapping at each other. That Jael is a trip!

Actually, I would sorta miss Dr? Dino if he were put out of businass. He's too much fun to watch. O'course the serenade of outraged howls of his lock-step followers might make up for it.

An article is up in the Pensacola paper. The Internal revenue people just don't know what laws apply: Kent's lawyer says
Quote:
"This is based on misperceptions. They don't understand how the church is created and registered, how it operates under church law, which is entirely separate from secular authorities."
Yeah. Hovind's only depositing about $1 million a year in the bank......

Hmph. Other churches seem to deal with the IRS with little hassle. Could it be that they just have better accountants with more sets of books than Hovind?

Perhaps he'll go the route of Jim Bakker, he of PTL fame.

Yeah, and did you get the last paragraph of that article? It says:
Quote:
Hovind has a May 18 court date to face three misdemeanor charges arising from his refusal to obtain a permit to construct a metal building on his property. Hovind said the building meets or exceeds building codes, and he objects to the permitting process as an undue expense on the church.
So, he is also trying to avoid local building codes. That would make me feel really safe visiting his theme park....

Well, with so many dieties to pick from, everybody is an Infidel, so I guess nobody's safe.

Internal Revenue Service agents are investigating a Pensacola man who operates a creationist theme park and museum off Old Palafox Road and who they say is evading taxes on more than $1 million in income.
I am sure Mr. Silly Dino wants to build a few little swimming pools and some summer homes with his "secular" unpaid tax money from part of his so call 700 seminars a year, funny books, videos, and tapes on creationism, have had 40+ debates and have been a guest on over 3500 radio and television talk show. This organization should be called a Creationist Con-man Company. Maybe his $1 million is part of the money for the offer of $250,000 to anyone who can give any empirical evidence (scientific proof) for evolution. I think the IRS will get the $250,000 money award which proves evolution is fact by the simple evolution of Hovind refusal to abide by tax laws and regulations in this great country. :boohoo:

This week, federal IRS agents raided the home and businesses of Kent Hovind, 51, in the first block of Cummings Road, confiscating all computer and paper records of financial activity since January 1997
Wonderful news! There is a deity.
