They will beat their swords into plowshares
and their spears into pruning hooks.
Nation will not take up sword against nation,
nor will they train for war anymore.

My favorite verses also. And the last lines:

"So faith, hope and love abide, these three. But the greatest of these is love."

Absolutely gorgeous thinking unknown in the classic world.

"[L]et instead justice roll down like waters and righteousness like an ever flowing stream (Amos 5:22-24)”

Indeed, which is why it makes up one of the three quotes I used.

That's one of my favorites, too. But there is the irony that this is pretty much the opposite of how people normally do what they call "love."

I like

"What is truth?" (Jhn 18:38)

I find it so modern, especially because there is no answer.
We can still say this, and still get no answer.

If Christians would have paid the attention you have given to it, mio amico romano, human history for the last 2 thousand years would have been very different, much less bloody.

15-17 I've seen it all in my brief and pointless life—here a good person cut down in the middle of doing good, there a bad person living a long life of sheer evil. So don't knock yourself out being good, and don't go overboard being wise. Believe me, you won't get anything out of it. But don't press your luck by being bad, either. And don't be reckless. Why die needlessly?

18 It's best to stay in touch with both sides of an issue. A person who fears God deals responsibly with all of reality, not just a piece of it.

19 Wisdom puts more strength in one wise person
Than ten strong men give to a city.

(from Ecclesiastes 7)
