Okay, so I have seen a few programs on the holy site in Jeruselum where a muslim mosque currently resides on a spot where a Christian holy site previously stood. Where is the proof of any of this stuff? I saw that there is a huge network of tunnels below the city and I can't help but wish the whole place would fall into a hole and the ocean cover it all up.

I don't understand where all this craziness comes from. Is there any evidence these places were ever inhabited by "holy" figures? Some one dazzle me with their knowledge!

The Temple of Jerusalem was a Jewish holy site rather than a Christian one. The only part that remains visible today is the Western Wall which wasn't part of the Temple itself but of the structure underpinning its courtyard.

The "holiness" of the site doesn't come from holy figures per se but from the fact that in Jewish (and later xian) mythology, it was where the Holy of Holies was located.

There is a lot of archeology going on that tends to confirm the historical nature of the site. It's a hot political issue - the Muslim authorities don't want the Jews disturbing their holy site or excavating to find any justification for the Jewish state. BAR has some coverage of the issue here

Don't know if this is true or not, but one of the interesting comments at that link was:
