Default Lead Codices threads MERGED

Are lead tablets discovered in a remote cave in Jordan the secret writings about the last years of Jesus?

Quote:
Artefacts discovered in a remote cave in Jordan could hold a contemporary account of the last years of Jesus.

The find of scrolls and 70 lead codices - tiny credit-card-sized volumes containing ancient Hebrew script talking of the Messiah and the Resurrection - has excited biblical scholars.

Much of the writing is in code, but experts have deciphered images, symbols and a few words and the texts could be 2,000 years old.

Hi Toto,

Sounds like someone is throwing out some pieces of raw meat to the lions to lead them somewhere.

Every UFO could be the real one that proves the existence of extraterrestrial life.

Maybe we could have the evidence before we have the conjectures for a change.

Warmly,

Philosopher Jay

A library full of documents would not validate the claims for a biblical Jesus. The stories of the bible are fiction, pure and simple.

As usual, the goyim, including the mythicists, are all hot and bothered about the possibility of a Christian connection to what are most likely Jewish artefacts. For a more sober look at the find, see here.

The Israel Antiquities Authority (IAA), however, has dismissed the idea that the books are of any value. Experts who examined some of them, it said, "absolutely doubted their authenticity". According to the IAA, the books are a "mixture of incompatible periods and styles…without any connection or logic. Such forged motifs can be found in their thousands in the antiquities markets of Jordan and elsewhere in the Middle East."

Professor Andre Lemaire, an expert in ancient inscriptions from the Sorbonne, was also dubious, saying the writing on some of the codices he had seen made no sense and it was "a question apparently of sophisticated fakes".
Lemaire may be a little gun shy, having endorsed the James Ossuary.

It is obvious that no one knows WTF is written here otherwise you wouldn't have a Jewish source connecting them with Bar Kochba and Christian ones with Jesus. I bet it's a picture book, an ancient precursor to the Cat in the Hat.

Both Bar Kochba and Jesus were "messiahs" in somebody's view, so that might be an understandable confusion.

I'm intrigued by the "code" - how would they go about deciphering it?

And how much information could you get on to a lead sheet the size of a credit card? There must be something which connects it with the early second century. I just think the line about “the lost years of Jesus” was pulled out of someone`s imagination

It was probably some sort of "atbash" cypher (the hebrew alphabet in reverse). Some of the DSS were also in such code. If these were magical texts, it might explain why some of them appear to be making no sense.

Lamellas (thin sheets of metal) were often used to write magical formulae. Generally, to cast a spell, the magician has to procure or have available certain materials, and say or write the incantation in certain specified ways.
If you wish to give your enemy trouble sleeping, take the head of a black dog that never saw light during its days and take a lamella from a strip of lead (pipe) from an aquaduct, and write upon it (the names of) these angels [who stand on the fourth step of the 2nd firmament]

ŞGRY'L MLKY'L 'WNBYB PGRY'L
cNNY'L KLNMYY' 'WMY'L MPNWR
KWZZYB' 'LPY'L PRYBY'L ŞcQMYH
KDWMY'L 'ŜMDc HWDYH YҢZY'L

and say thus:
I hand over to you, angels of disquiet who stand upon the fourth step, the life and the soul and the spirit of N son of N so that you may tie him in chains of iron and bind him to a bronze yoke. Do not give sleep, nor slumber, nor drowsiness to his eyelids; let him weep and cry like a woman at childbirth, and do not permit any (other) man to release him (from this spell).
Write thus (as above) and put (the inscribed lead lamella) in the mouth of the dog's head and put wax in its mouth, and seal (it) with a ring which has a lion (engraved) upon it. Then go and conceal it behind his house or in a place he frequents.
This is an incantation from the Sepher ha Razim, a text containing spells in pure midrashic Hebrew, plus some magical praxis in Greek, and some weird characters usually called "alphabet of the magi" in medieval magical manuscripts, and generally dated to late 3rd or early 4th century CE.

I read the two links but don't see the connection to "Christian texts". Is it because the text may be about 2000 years old that it might connect to Christian/Jesus experiences?
