Default Josephus and the 19 Jesus's

I was using the search here to find a nicely done list of these many Jesus' that I thought was posted by PhilosopherJay, oh, possibly within the last year or so, but I can't find anything now.

Any thoughts? I just wanted the list of these 19 Jesus's along with the citations where they may be found in the works by Josephus.

Quote:
"Josephus, the first century Jewish historian mentions no fewer than nineteen different Yeshuas/Jesii, about half of them contemporaries of the supposed Christ!"

- Was there a Jesus? Of course there was a Jesus – many!

High-5 thanks for that, DCHindley. I almost mentioned you in my original post as well as I couldn't remember which one of you made a list. Don't you have a thread around here with at least some of that list already? I couldn't find it using the search function here.

I do own The Complete Works of Josephus by Whiston but, didn't want to take all the time if it was already done - I thought for sure I saw it here before.

Thanks again.

And just think of how many people were named Joseph Smith back when the Mormons were getting going. All of them non-existent, apparently. In fact, any time two people have the same name, some people believe that means that neither of them actually exists!

You don't have to witness this kind of thing for very long to start feeling distinctly uncharitable towards those responsible. Which is not very kind of them, is it?

Just give it up, chaps. If the only way to "prove" that Christianity is wrong is stuff like this,* you'd better just go down to the Catholic church and go to confession, and confess to being a fool and a sinner and have done with it.

All the best,

Roger Pearse
*And surely it is not.

Not even the Catholics agree that ALL GODS exist. You think because people say Gods exist that that all of them do???

Please, even if people were named Jesus that does NOT mean there was a Jesus of Nazareth or that the Catholic worships the TRUE Jesus.

The Phantom was the TRUE Son of God--Not Jesus.

Please, go to Marcion's Church and ask for forgiveness.

Marcion was BEFORE the Catholics.
