God puts the tree of life in Eden because it wasn't forbidden. He had every intention of letting them eat from it had they not disobeyed Him.
Oh, I can't WAIT to see the source for this rubbish

Is it evil to disobey God?

first, those two sentences are inconsistent. second, there is absolutely nothing in the texts suggesting they weren't already eating from the tree of life - there was no further "intention" necessary since they already had permisssion.

My apologies, I thought you were a Christian.

Only after the fall.

It is implied that they hadn't yet eaten from the tree or God would have never kicked them out of the garden to prevent them from ever eating from it. The verses strongly suggest that they hadn't yet eaten from the Tree of Life.

on the contrary, they imply the opposite. the location of the ToL is know: G-d issues a very specific instruction that does not impact their access to the ToL: and finally they are kicked out to prevent *further* eating from the tree.

Didn't they have to eat the fruit FIRST before they understood that what they were doing was "sinful"? Something about this story just doesn't make sense.
They understood that wrong was eating the fruit of that Tree BECAUSE GOD TOLD THEM SO.

What did Eve tell the serpent ?

She told the serpent that God said we may eat from every Tree in the Garden except.........

She knew.

Where is the first sin in the Bible ?

I just told you ?

Thats right......the first sin in the Bible is where the first question mark is.

The serpent records the first sin in the Bible because he is attempting to get Eve to do what she knows is wrong.

The first sin is to DOUBT what God said.

Thats the purpose of the serpent/Satan - to get mankind to doubt what God says - to make us believe that God is not serious when He says "you will surely die".

Adam/Eve knew - there is no excuse.

You can say that all you want. It doesn't make any difference in this exercise. Eating of the tree opened thier eyes and, after eating, they knew of good and they knew of evil. Prior to the act of eating, all acts were of equal moral value. But, remember, it's just a story.

But, if you think it's not, WILLOWevcTREE (or even if you do think it's a story but you want to keep playing), the next part of the exercise goes like this:

- Why did YHWH put such a magical tree in the garden in the first place?

- Did YHWH know Eve would eat of and share the fruit of the tree prior to the act (or prior to creation)?

- If A&E were perfect "before the fall", how could they have done anything "wrong"?

Yes, but I'm just talking about the view some people have of god. If not omnipotent, at least fairly damn powerful So if regular human writers can make something better, why can't god?
