Default 1 in 3 Canadians think The Davinci Code is historically accurate

So says a poll conducted on behalf of National Geographic.

I don't know whether to be amused or indignant.

With 1 out of 5 Canadians reading his book, Brown struck gold but the article seems to suggest his audience was already primed to accept it. I wonder how well the Baigent & Leigh books sold in Canada?

It's actually quite amusing, even Christian Reichists (especially the women) tend to believe it more often than not. It's a battle I eventually said "Let it be" than try to fight it. As I see it, it'll probably do more good than harm in the long run.

So what. 7 in 10 Americans think The Davidic Code is historically accurate. Last month the Governor of Texas, Right Perry, signed a major piece of Texas Legislation in a Church (Hillary, look out!). The Sermon was about creating a Merger between Church and State and bringing back Jesus Christ hisself to broker the deal (for ten percent).

What's worse, promoting an Impossible resurrection as History or promoting a Possible Genealogy as Fiction.

They're casting about looking for SOMEthing to believe in because religion doesn't cut it for them. They will be heartbroken when they get the truth.
"It is better to put Faith in the Lord than trust in the confidence of men"
The bible has a habit of proving itself from time to time.

Is humanity really that evil? That seems like a very misanthropic opinion.

And I wonder how many people elsewhere in the world think that the DaVinci Code is historically accurate.

It is as historically accurate as almost everything else in the bible.

There was a show on TV this past weekend about the DaVinci Code. One "expert" kept saying "there is no evidence to support that view" to almost every point under discussion, i.e. was Mary Madalene a church leader, did Jesus love her, did Jesus have children by her, etc. Times like that I wish I could have shouted, "there is no evidence of anything written about Jesus or the diciples that are in the Gospels either. It would have been better to have several of those experts side by side countering each other, instead of the standard cut&paste of our "news" reports.
