It probably doesn't count as "sin" but I find especially amusing the story of Jesus getting hungry and looking for figs on a fig tree, then cursing the tree when it doesn't have any... because it wasn't the season for figs (which the story itself points out!). The fig tree dies, of course.

But it is definitely an eco crime - the lord of the universe ought to know better!

Jesus prided himself in owning nothing. The son of man has no place to lay his head, right?

Jesus must have been susceptible to temptation or Satan wouldn't have tried to tempt him. So it follows that Jesus was capable of sinning.

He used human will power to resist temptation (particularly the temptation to break his fast) and when Satan finally left him he collapsed in exhaustion and the angels comforted him.

If Jesus wasn't able to be tested what good would his example be to sinners? It's a simple matter for a deity to overcome temptation or any other challenge (such as suffering on a cross) but a true "Son of Man" would have a much harder time of it.

Even as a boy I saw the tension between a Jesus who could be tempted and a Jesus who could perform miracles and rise from the dead. I much preferred the human side of Jesus.

Imagine Jesus as a severely psychotic man with delusions of messianic grandeur. At every turn he sees proof that he is the annointed one and his charisma and confidence inspires a small group of misfit followers who reinforce his delirius self image by asking him if he's the messiah.

Then the poor soul is finally arrested for blasphempy and other innappropriate behavior. Still, he's confident that his heavenly father will deliver him. But in the end, as he is about to give up the ghost, he realizes that he is not who he thought he was. He's just a crazy guy hanging on a cross.

Which would have been worse for him? The physical pain of crucifixion or the loss of his divine identity?

If this had happened it would have been a story worth recording and remembering. And for the sake of Jesus, the suffering hero, it would have been a story worth embellishing.

Since this thread got split, it kind of got lost.
So, I thought I would revive it again.

Anybody else want to comment on Jesus being a sinner?

Assuming the biblical accounts of Jesus are true, Jesus' character seemed flawed, even though he might've been more advanced than the average person living at that time.
He didn't always honor the Sabbath; he did not always honor his mother; he destroyed property (the pigs; the tables in the Temple); he lied about going to the feast; he seemed cocky when he said "let the dead bury their dead" and uncompassionate towards the man whose family member died; he seemed cocky when the poor woman was putting oil on his feet and he said "the poor will always be around." He did not seem to know his mission- did he just come for the sick; just for the Jew? He told the believers before ascending that they would perform wonders greater than his, although that doesn't seem to be the case. Etc. etc.
Any other examples?

Mary Magdalene would know best...
