Default Universal Declaration of Human Rights and Moses

Hello

A priest wrote in the local newspaper that there was very little in the Universal Declaration of Human Rights (UDHR ) that hadn't already been written in the Law of Moses. I want to respond with an artivle but I'm not a bible-expert like you guys.

So, could you help me find examples where the articles of the UDHR are broken? please

I've already found examples for articles 4 and 5.

So because a 'modern' document reflects some of the sentiments of an ancient moral standard, where it does not agree makes one of the documents "broken"? I do not understand what you are looking for. This Moses thing is a little outdated. What is "missing" from the UDHR that you would add? The right to stone blasphemers or something?

Maybe if you post your examples for 4 and 5 we can see where you are going with this

Sorry.

What I'm looking for are examples where the Law of Moses violates the UDHR.

Well, Moses wasn't very strong on religious freedoms. For example, Deuteronomy 13:7-10:
Quote:
If thy brother, the son of thy mother, or thy son, or thy daughter, or the wife of thy bosom, or thy friend, that is as thine own soul, entice thee secretly, saying: 'Let us go and serve other gods,' which thou hast not known, thou, nor thy fathers; of the gods of the peoples that are round about you, nigh unto thee, or far off from thee, from the one end of the earth even unto the other end of the earth; thou shalt not consent unto him, nor hearken unto him; neither shall thine eye pity him, neither shalt thou spare, neither shalt thou conceal him; but thou shalt surely kill him; thy hand shall be first upon him to put him to death, and afterwards the hand of all the people.
Or 13-17 in the same chapter:
Quote:
If thou shalt hear tell concerning one of thy cities, which the LORD thy God giveth thee to dwell there, saying: 'Certain base fellows are gone out from the midst of thee, and have drawn away the inhabitants of their city, saying: Let us go and serve other gods, which ye have not known'; then shalt thou inquire, and make search, and ask diligently; and, behold, if it be truth, and the thing certain, that such abomination is wrought in the midst of thee; thou shalt surely smite the inhabitants of that city with the edge of the sword, destroying it utterly, and all that is therein and the cattle thereof, with the edge of the sword. And thou shalt gather all the spoil of it into the midst of the broad place thereof, and shall burn with fire the city, and all the spoil thereof every whit, unto the LORD thy God; and it shall be a heap for ever; it shall not be built again.
