Default Earthquake magnified

Some indications of seismic activity in the Dead Sea area 26 to 36 CE is used to specify April 3, 33 CE as the date of the Crucifixion of Jesus. Seems not to add anything we knew from the gospels, as Pontius Pilate has already been dated to those same ten years.

This is the sort of nonsense that the human race must endure by people who want to maintain the belief in Myth Fables.

The very sources which state there was an Earthquake also claimed Jesus was the Son of a Ghost and that on the day of the same quake DEAD people came back to life and was seen in the Holy City.

When will the Human race be relieved of such Myth Fables and those who propagate Blatant nonsense as if in a dream world.

This is the 21st century and it is time for the Human race to rise up against these Myth Fables.

The Human race DESERVE BETTER.

The human race is BEING DECEIVED.

That can't be right, because Jesus wasn't crucified on a 'Friday'. This is just a bit of Establishment 'news' management; bang on cue.

it is pretty weak to tie in a 4 year period of a quake, to a single day based on material known to contain mythology.

That's got nothing on Deepak Chopra.

http://www.aolnews.com/2010/04/05/ch...or-baja-quake/

'...The U.S. Geological Survey is blaming day-to-day seismological changes for Sunday's 7.2 earthquake along the U.S.-Mexico border. But Deepak Chopra, the famed alternative-medicine practitioner and transcendental meditation guru, is pretty sure he knows what really happened.

"Had a powerful meditation just now -- caused an earthquake in Southern California," Chopra wrote to his nearly 179,000 Twitter followers shortly after the quake...'

This is freaking hilarious. It's what Robert Price continually refers to as "Protestant Rationalism." It says it in the Bible, so it must be true, but God's creation is perfect and requires no divine intervention, so look for some naturalistic explanation.

Here is Mark Goodacre on this: blog post

However, the real problem with this kind of work is that it fails to take seriously the nature of the texts that are being studied. What Matthew appears to be doing here is to rewrite his Marcan source in typical Matthean fashion. Of all the evangelists, Matthew is the one who likes to add earthquakes to his accounts. There is one again at the resurrection (Matt. 28.2). Indeed, one should probably be wary of using the term technical term "earthquake" to describe all of these -- it is the evangelist's way of saying that the earth was shaking and something dramatic was happening. He describes the big storm (Matt. 8.23-27) as a great earthquake (seismos) on the sea.

To take Matthew's "earthquake" as a geological report is to misread his account. The story he is presenting here is one of those that very few New Testament scholars would take seriously as history. It's even read with caution by the most conservative scholars, and for good reason. The Discovery report ends its quotation of Matt. 27.51-2 with the tombs opening, but if it had continued its quotation, the reader would have seen how Matthew goes on to recount what some people call the Zombie Pericope, when bodies come out of the tombs, walk around and meet people. This is not history but legend.

'Good Friday' is a Catholic invention.

Isn't this the same Mark Goodacre that Believes Bible Jesus existed?? Why is it NOT a shame that he did NOT understand that Jesus is all legend in gMatthew.

Mark Goodacre understands the earthquake is NOT history but Gobbles up the part where Jesus was born in gMatthew.

When the the writers wrote the gMatthew, they most certainly ransacked the records to see during whose governorship an earthquake was felt in Judea.

Either that or they were flying by the seat of their pants, and modern science has proven them lucky.

Of course, some, like Sotto Voce, would argue that this supports "the veracity of the gospels". Including gMatthew's Night of the Living Dead.

Jesus' Crucifixion Date Possibly Friday April 3, 33 A.D., According To Earthquake Study

"A new study suggests that the Biblical date of Jesus' crucifixion is, in fact, possible to confirm.

The International Geology Review investigated an earthquake that was said to have occurred the same date as Jesus' crucifixion; which was most likely Friday April 3, 33 A.D.

In Gospel of of Matthew, Chapter 27 says: “And when Jesus had cried out again in a loud voice, he gave up his spirit. At that moment the curtain of the temple was torn in two from top to bottom. The earth shook, the rocks split and the tombs broke open.”....
Excellent, now they just need to confirm Matthew 27:51-53:

"And, behold, the veil of the temple was rent in twain from the top to the bottom; and the earth did quake, and the rocks rent; And the graves were opened; and many bodies of the saints which slept arose, And came out of the graves after his resurrection, and went into the holy city, and appeared unto many."

So, Saints came up out of their graves like zombies and went into the city to appear to many, but nobody noticed? They can't even find credible evidence for the existence of Jesus, but an earthquake proves his crucifixion date? These Geologists must come from Jerry Falwell's Liberty University.
