In an attempt to return to track, I will simply note that it has now been conclusively demonstrated that Lake Suigetsu destroys any credibility that Genesis might have had as a historical narrative. Indeed, the entire Bible consists primarily of unverifiable stories; frankly false claims; some excellent poetry; and some interesting theology.

But no history.

What is more important is that it was Christians in the main who first demonstrated the ahistorical nature of the Bible; and intelligent Christians who continue to demonstrate its flaws and problems. It might be an interesting exercise to begin a thread detailing all these instances of Christians showing the faults and limitations of the Bible.

Only an idiot or a fool would accept the Bible as a literal document.

Oh, not the Tower of Babel nonsense again.

Your list makes a lot of sense...but there is one thing I've NEVER understood about the whole 'Tower of Babel' thing...

Why on earth would they building a tower to peer into the window of a god they didn't believe in???

When you recognize that it's just a metaphorical explanation of the general confusion of mankind, it makes a great deal more sense.

Dave seems to have completely abandoned this thread.

Now we'll never hear his grand explanation for the conscilience. Sniff, sigh, pout, lawl.

Dave already explained it: every single scientist in the world is an idiot. That really is his explanation. He can't back it up, of course, but that is his contention.

Dave has said that he's teaching vacation Bible school this week, so please cut the comments on where he is.

He's indoctrinating innocent young children.

Funny how he finds the time from indoctrination to post in other threads, tho.

According to the Big Book o' Tales, they were doing it so as to be famous and united.

From Genesis 11:

1 And the whole earth was of one language, and of one speech.

2 And it came to pass, as they journeyed from the east, that they found a plain in the land of Shinar; and they dwelt there.

3 And they said one to another, Go to, let us make brick, and burn them thoroughly. And they had brick for stone, and slime had they for morter.

4 And they said, Go to, let us build us a city and a tower, whose top may reach unto heaven; and let us make us a name, lest we be scattered abroad upon the face of the whole earth.

I guess the famous part sort of worked.

Well since AFDave has failed to respond to Silent Dave's formal debate challenge on the consilience of dating methods he is now on record as being unable or unwilling to defend his contention that there is an explanation for it that is compatible with a 6,000 year old earth.
I suggest we just link him to the debate challenge next time he starts disputing C14 calibration.
