I am just the opposite from you on this. This is my main expertise. Your going to have to "DEAL" with opinions on this matter because there are grey areas and in certain aspects with "no sources" or "studies" done.

This is my guess is this is where Ilan Ziv will go regarding Sepphoris.


During the Fall of the temple Sepphoris opened its gates to the Romans and was rewarded for doing such. Many Scholars used to believe that it was heavily Romanized by this time, and debates still arise as to the date of the theatre allthough most place a post 70 CE date early second century.

So these were not Gentiles openeing the gates for Romans as previously thought. These were all Jews openeing the gates for Romans, while Jews were at war with Romans.



Recent archeology in Sepphoris by Johnathon Reed has shown that the people were almost all Jews pre 70, by he absense of pig bones from this time period.


These Hellenistic Jew's [the word Hellensitic is often not used, but its my opinion it must be emphasized] stayed in the area and were never exiled.

Think about it Toto, they were Jews but placed there by Antipas and they worked hand in hand with the Romans and certain Jews were not a threat to Romans and therefore these Hellensitic Jews were never exiled.


Toto, question time for you. Hellenistic Jews and Israelite Jews lived the same? belonged to the same culture, or the same religion?

Were the Zealots factually crushed?

Did some of these Zealots run? hide? leaving a myth that Jews were exiled?
