Vork, I only see two articles by him, and none about his ideas.

One of the articles by him is on the "Jesus Puzzle". The other is a review of Crossin.

Are there any reviews of his work there? I see one on "The Jesus Myth According to Barbara Walker". Are there any reviews of Doherty there?

It's a critical review of Crossan, Don, that is 32 pages long. Unfortunately it does not seem web-accessible. *sigh*

I have no idea if there are any reviews of Doherty's ideas there. I don't see anything that looks like one.

But WHY isn't there? There is an article called "The Jesus Myth According to Barbara Walker", for crying out loud!

Vork, you know that I have to ask this question: In a journal that focuses on mythicism/skepticism, why hasn't anyone reviewed Doherty's thesis?

Good question, had exact same thought. Can't say why, either. Why don't you try for a second tier bible studies journal with a review of tJP? Heck, maybe I should.

JHC is an academic journal that focuses on "higher criticism," not mythicism or skepticism. For most academics, the question of whether Jesus existed is unsolveable, and writing about it will not lead to tenure or get them a grant, so why should they stick their necks out?

Yes, but surely that doesn't explain why there is no REVIEW of Doherty there. I can't see how reviewing Doherty would involve sticking one's neck out.

Doherty published his article on the "Jesus Puzzle" in the Fall 1997 issue of JHC. Up until the last issue in 2003, no-one appears to have reviewed it. I doubt that this was because people were too scared to do so.

Most of the responses here were a bit off-topic for the OP, but I did manage to send out an email to both magazines suggesting a story. It will probably not work, but the only cost of trying is writing up an email (and all the new spam that will come to my inbox now  ).

Even if those magazines do not do any story in the near future, they may keep it in mind for a story in the distant future. Or, an employee there may work on it in some other capacity, or in another magazine.

I doubt it too. Why don't you write up a scholarly review?
