Good point. Christianity didn't create sin but makes people sick with sin. It obsessively dwells on sin, sin, sin and of course offers a preposterous cure.

Christianity does indeed make people sick with sin but it can be argued that Catholicism encourages sin thru the forgiveness of sin and we have the confessionals to prove that. The concept sin is only needed to estabilish a stream of consciousness against which sin is made known and if you ever want to snare the 'big one' repeat offenders are needed and they must be cultivated inside the house lest they offend against others outside religions own jurisdiction.

The preposteous cure you have in mind is not even part of the plan in a direct way if salvation is not ours to seek. But I agree with you that the puritan mindset can make living equal to hell on earth.

"Sin", or hamartia, was a concept long before Christianity came along.
