I've seen some reference to a "One World Government" preceding the Rapture in some christian fundimentalist literature. Does anyone know from where that idea comes?

Is it in the bible or is it a new thing?

It's only in the director's cut, which is in limited distribution to select congregations...

I think it comes from Revelation 13:

Convenient. So it doesn't really have to be accurate or anything, in fact, the more vague the better. At any rate, I'm not seeing anything that firmly indicates a one world government. A dragon that rules "all tribes" for 42 months - the co-operative nature that we occasionally attempt via the UN or whatever - that's been in progress alot longer than 42 months.

Edit: Any help from the christians here would be helpful. I guess I can see where you get the government thing, but it's pretty vague.

However, I do not know of any verses referring to a "one-world government". It's all been fitted to modern times so believers can keep their faith.

No, Smohg, there isn't a "one world gov't" like we imagine it. Some Christians have taken to fanciful and anachronistic readings of the final book of the NT.

If it had two horns like a lamb does that mean it had no horns? Because although I don't live on a farm, I'm quite certain that lambs don't have horns. I believe that would be a wee bit rough on Mrs. Sheep's vagina.

Yes but is revelation 1:1 symbolic too?
