As others have said, and as you agree, this souldn't be about science.

However, TBT made it about science with his OP.

You can't change the direction of someone else's point, then get pissed when they don't play. We were addressing TBT's claims. You were addressing something else. That's cool, but don't tell us 'we aren't getting it'. If anything, you are on a different sheet of music than the rest of us. (Though there is nothing wrong with that. And, for the record, I'd be agreeing with you 100% if it weren't for TBTs original claim that the Bible is the best/only source of cosmology.)

To analyse an ancient text, you need to leave behind as much modern indoctrination as possible in order to have any slim hope of appreciating the work on its own merits. As I said, it's fine on EvC to point out the scientific lack of sense in such a text, but it is absurd here, where the job is to understand the text for what it is attempting to communicate.

spin
so we were addressing the post, and you were addressing the forum. ok.

For some reason you continue to forget that this is biblical criticism and history, not EvC. Did you read my reaction to the OP? Is my reaction one for BC&H or EvC?

You aren't doing BC&H, so you aren't getting it. If TBT is silly enough to post the crap on BC&H, he'll get BC&H. If you can't live with that, WTF are you posting in BC&H for?

He isn't respecting the text in his claims, so you show the fact that he isn't. If you want to do something other than BC&H, shouldn't you be doing it elsewhere? And don't give me the crap that TBT shouldn't have posted here. As he did, he got BC&H. What's the point of a bunch of people turning up for a rock concert at a symphony concert hall??

This is you taking the ball and running with it.

He made a claim that was contrary to science. We corrected him. Then you chime in and say it's not about the science. I submit that it is precisely about the science considering the arrogance of: The only book on cosmology you will ever need to read...

And now you've taken the ball, run with it and scored a touchdown for the other team. I am doing BC&H. I'm telling him his bible is all fucked up (Biblical Criticism) and why it's all fucked up (History.) His book contradicts known facts. And I'd also like to point out that TBT has yet to show-up on this clusterfuck of a thread to clarify anything he said. So in reality, none of us know what the hell he meant. But his title seemed to say it all, to me.

Anyways, this is turning too hot for my tastes, with regards to arguing with you, spin. I've always liked your posts, and I'm not trying to pick a fight. I guess until TBT shows up, we won't have any idea what he meant for us to electronically kick his ass over.

Everybody stop and notice how The Bible Thumper has somehow gotten a group of people who basically agree with each other to fight each other.

He hasn't stuck his head into this thread since the OP. Perhaps he has accomplished his purpose?

I was noticing that, too.

To heck with all this a fussin' an' a feudin'! Let's buy each other nice, atheistic beer!

Sorry, you're doing neither. You have shown no desire to make reasoned criticism of the text. You just talk of it being "all fucked up", that's not BC.

It's not his book. It's everyone's. And as I've pointed out, it is senseless to argue that it doesn't fit modern science's claims (what you fancifully call "known facts", or what someone else could call currently accepted dogma). It was written before that dogma became trendy.

What can he clarify? His purposes are transparent are they not?

Take it this way: "You want arguments. That's down the hallway. This is insults." -- to quote Monty Python. This is BC&H, so I gave the guy BC&H. If he's in the wrong room that's his problem. He still gets, BC&H. Sniveling mewling puke-faced heap of excrement, or whatever the man in insults would say.

When we talk of criticism, that isn't a cue for tearing the guts out of something. It involves first understanding what the material is about and then evaluating it in its context.

I'll be back to finish this. Right up to where our Holy Creator creates us in His image.
Let's hope you'll do a hell of a lot better when you come back. As it is, you appear hellbent to proselytize. If that is your aim, then you may as well apologize now for wasting everyone's time and go and find something useful to do.

As it seems people want to destine the discussion to be moved -- even the OP seems to lack understanding of what BC&H means --, perhaps the mods would accomodate them.

Spin, you keep saying this thread revolves around BC&H, but in what way? What is there to criticize? TBT using the wrong translation?

TBT has made it clear what is aim is, here. He wants to show us how the bible is the only source for cosmology. That's what we are debunking, right now.

I really don't see what the problem is.
