Default Puddles

Was it Douglas Adams who described the feelings of a puddle about how wondrous the world was that the indentation it was in fitted it exactly?

Does this reversed thinking help to explain the myriad doctrinal and theological disputes that have occurred throughout history for example is god's son equal to the father?

I see the MJ theory as precisely questionning the puddle assumption of xianity - that the world was created and exists to glorify god and christ - it was designed to fit the puddle.

Once you start reading the new testament without the assumption that Christ is our glorious high priest or whatever Hebrews says, or the Alpha and Omega, it becomes obvious that we are looking at a very important evolution in thinking.

We might start to move on and work out some fascinating stuff about the evolution of our thinking.

In the 1820's very significant fossil discoveries were made, and they were badly fitted into the existing great chain of creation ideology. The variety of creation - and lines in Genesis - there were giants in those days - were used to prop up puddle thinking. All the niches (much later word) of creation were God individually creating stuff to fit the specific indentations in the environment - each puddle was individually created by God. It took over forty years to work out what really happened and the correct solution is still being argued about!

The story of the christ is an evolution of thought about a theocosmology that discusses the interrelationship of humans and the gods and creates a central focus, a central fulcrum - the christ around which the whole universe revolves. The christ comes to save us all and create a new heaven and earth, to enable the lion to lay down with the lamb and beat our swords into plowshares.

There are plenty of iterations of the HJ position that do this as well. The majority of non-Christians are HJers, remember.

I think out of habit and tradition.

Which is simpler? Someone invented a Christ puddle that fills perfectly all the sin shaped indentations in the world or this role of godman was imposed on a real human? (or the xians are correct).

Apologies if this is off-topic, but this applies to creationists too.

Evolution is the mechanism that makes the development of the species and adaptation to the environment "fit" the world. Without it, the diversity of life-forms and the "fit" to all the ecological niches would truly be miraculous!

Nice analogy, wherever it came from!
