I think a far more compelling case can be made for the first case than the second, but ultimately both are foolish. They reflect more on the religious stance of their supporters than anything else.
Api, I am well aware of your views on the Masoretic Text, and your attempts to show that it is not the inspired word of God. And I am happy to tussle with you on the threads where that occurs.

You seem to be concerned that if you simply answer a straight question like above, it might be misconstrued. Don't worry. Your opposition to the Masoretic Text as inspired, and incredulity at the defense of the text, will not be overlooked.

I'm not into playing politics ... simply wondered why Noah was again and again putting words in your mouth opposite to what you stated, (if I saw that right), and why it slipped by this time.

Api, I really don't have a preference one way or another whether you consider the Talmud et al as supporting the historical Jesus, clearly you are right that it is the Jesus of Nazareth of the NT that was the object of derision.

I do have a concern for consistent, integrity dialog, even when positions seem strange or obscure, which is why I noted the above and the ability of Noah to take 3 positions at the same time. Rather interesting.

Shalom,
Steven
