In many places, beer was probably safer to drink, since many water sources were contaminated by *eek* human and animal feces.

You should not forget that the catholic priests drink red wine during the mass. "This is my blood". And that our ancestor Noah was a bloody drunkard. Wine or beer ?

But yes the Israelites consumed alcohol, and so did Yeshua....alcohol isnt forbidden by God...one of the great misconceptions among believers and nonbelievers alike. I drink a little beer myself and have had the misfortune of being called a hypocrit. I told a preacher whom I worked with, that Jesus drinked wine as did the Apostles and was told that that was for health problems.....nevermind that Yeshua said that believers will drink wine with him in heaven...where there is no sickness. Sometimes you get responses that it was "grape juice".
I got this from my Mormon friend who said the passage in the Christian bible about Jesus drinking 'wine' translated to the 'juice of the grape' or something like that. I asked someone on this board to translate the original Greek and learned that my friend was lied to. :devil1:

In the Hebrew bible, it was obvious they were drinking full blown wine, as Noah couldn't have gotten drunk on Welch's Grape Juice.

Except of course Dionysos and Bacchus. And if mead was involved the Norse gods could out souse anyone.

That explains why it took God six days to finish the game.

He was a mean drunk, too.

This was back before the cans had pop-tops, wasn't it? Jesus and his merry men must have included church keys in their kit. Perhaps this has something to do with the term "church key."
Hmmmmm...:constern01:
